Three reasons to purchase the battery grip...1.)Doubles the battery capacity2.)Provides a more balanced feel with heavy lenses and 3.)the additional shutter button makes taking portrait (vertical) pictues much easier (eliminating the dreaded "chicken wing" position).

Fits like a glove and hasn't failed me yet.Adds to the look and handling of the camera (Canon 40D).I am happy with the purchase.

It makes the camera grip in hand very solid and quite large. Fits well, is stable and stays tight. Looks good and feels good. Expensive and very high quality, just whatyou expect from Canon.

Since purchasing my 30D I have been interested in getting this grip.
Finally took the plunge and bought this about 1 month ago and couldn't be happier.The convenience of having an extra battery while shooting is great.
Seems to blend in very well with the stock body.
I'll agree with the other reviewers that and AF-on button would be nice but its not a huge deal.
I can see it getting a little heavy down the road but thats something I was prepared for.

Just rec'd shipment of this product, and it comes with an international warranty, not a USA warranty. NOWHERE on Amazon's page for this product does it disclose that the product is a gray market item.
I have no objection to the gray market for products, but I DEMAND full disclosure, as B&H does on their website.
