While the first Twin Peaks soundtrack was fairly accessible, thanks to its gothic noir-pop atmosphere (and its three Julee Cruise songs), this CD feels a little more hermetic. Its dark charms take longer to take hold, but they're there, all right. A reworking of the show's famous love theme opens the proceedings, and after that the album slowly builds up a unique 1950s-influenced atmosphere, sexy in a vaguely scary way. Composer Angelo Badalamenti easily moves from warped takes on Americana ("High School Swing") to blues ("Drug Deal Blues"), from laidback jazz ("Josie and Truman") to lascivious grind ("Blue Frank"). Stars Sheryl Lee and Lara Flynn Boyle contribute vocals to "Just You" (lyrics by David Lynch), possibly one of the creepiest love ballads ever recorded. Typically, a cryptic hidden track is positioned before the first one. You must press the rewind button to access it. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

- Incomplete
When Twin Peaks first aired back in 1990, I would NEVER have watched it had it not been for the MUSIC. I never was very much into network television and Twin Peaks seemed like just another network's lame attempt to rake in a few bucks with a new "murder/mystery miniseries". I promptly dismissed the show.
A couple of months later, I heard the main title theme on a local jazz radio station. I was mesmerized! I decided to give the show a try and I was absolutely hooked. The story, actors, ... Read More
Rating:
- A slight disappointment
The soundtrack for the 1st season and for the Fire Walk With Me movie were great. Unfortunately this soundtrack is not. It's probably more enjoyable for those who have recently seen the whole series (as I have). Otherwise it's just a bunch of boring short musical themes.

- "I'm hurt bad.........."
This might be overstating the obvious, but this is a must have companion to the first Twin Peaks t.v. soundtrack album. This has a ton of great stuff like "Just You"(sung by James Marshall from the show, with back ups by Sheryl Lee and Lara Flynn Boyle), "Hook Rug Dance" ,and "Blue Frank". The material ranges from 50's type stuff, to eerie jazz and lounge, to eerier ambient, as is to be expected from Lynch/Badalamenti. Obviously those already fans who have some context for the music will enjoy this ... Read More
Rating:
- A boring - snoring - triple z - disappointment
This CD will be very disappointing if you are hoping for anything resembling the soundtracks from Season One or Fire Walk With Me. Lots of nondescript background jazz-snare.I don't even care to use it for background ambience.

- Dear Mr Badalementi, Mr. Lynch and Absurda...
Please please release Vol. 3 of music from Twin Peaks, or better yet, a complete box set of ALL twin peaks tracks in your library. You know it will sell well! We have waited so long...
