The Fujitsu ScanSnap S510M Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for Macs lets you easily convert your paper archives into a searchable digital library of PDFs. With an easy one-touch PDF creation process, nothing could be simpler: The scanner will automatically distinguish between color documents and black and white ones, automatically recognize the size of each page, automatically straighten images, and automatically delete blank pages. Included are an automatic document feeder and the ability to scan in duplex mode, enabling the ScanSnap to scan at up to 18 pages per minute. The ScanShop uses a USB 2.0 (USB 1.1 compatible) interface for wide compatibility and fast data connection. The ScanSnap supports Mac OS X 10.2.8, 10.3, and 10.4 and includes a copy of Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional and a copy of ABBYY FineReader.
The scanner uses two color CCDs for scanning at an optical resolution of up to 600 dpi. The scanner-supported size range includes A4, A5, A6, B5, B6, business cards, letter, legal, and custom sizes from a minimum of 2 by 2 inches to a maximum of 8.5 by 14.17 inches. Even though it scans paper of all sizes, the scanner itself has a compact angular design that takes less space on your desktop than a letter-size piece of paper. - Beware Refurbished Versions!!
I bought a refurbished S510M from a seller that I reached through an Amazon link and discovered upon receiving it that refurbished machines DO NOT come with the Adobe software, even though the seller's product description specifically stated that the Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Professional for Mac would be included.A letter from Fujitsu with the machine explained that refurbished machines do not include Adobe software, and that without it the scanner would have only "basic functionality."I am returning ... Outstanding product. Very easy to use, as well as very user friendly. Well worth the higher price.

I am a remote worker and was really suffering while away from my main office without a scanner. Faxing is a hassle with a shared phone line.So this scanner has been amazing. Easy install and works like a champ with my mac air.I had a 10+page document two sided and it went through perfectly. I got one for my 86 year old father (pc user)and he loves it too. The price seems high, but my satisfaction has been high, so its worth it.

This is our fourth ScanSnap.We keep adding them to various workstations around the office because they are so easy to use.The S510M is designed for Macs and, of course, is easy to install and use.Great way to go paperless. Great shopping experience.

- Expensive, fast with mediocre document feeder
This scanner is unbelievably fast, scans both sides at the same time and is accordingly priced more expensive to many other solutions.
So far the most disappointing item is the Document Feeder which more often than not is causing multiple pages to be pulled in (no matter how much time and care you take to prepare the stack). This is unrelated to the number of pages (5, 8, 12 or more) and the only resolution so far has been to always only scan one page at a time.
