Amazon.com Product Description:
Far Cry 2 by Ubisoft is the anticipated sequel to the award-winning original that brings players into the beautiful and hostile world of Africa. Far Cry 2 for Windows Vista/XP features open-ended gameplay that allows you to play the game whichever way you choose, with the choices you make affecting where the game leads you.
Outstanding Graphics
Ubisoft developed the Dunia Engine specifically for Far Cry 2. Among other things, the Dunia Engine delivers realistic, interactive environments, special effects, real-time night-and-day cycles, and smart enemy AI.
Expansive, Realistic Environment
Far Cry 2 is set in a fictional region of Africa where you are caught between two rival factions at war. The Ubisoft team spent a lot of time filming and photographing in Africa to get all the details of the landscape and native wildlife. The result is a huge gameplay area that is 50 square kilometers, taking players into and out of the jungle and savannah. Wild animals such as zebras, buffalo, gazelle are encountered during the game, with both players and enemies allowed to interact with them.
Far Cry 2 features an incredible level of detail and realism, with a minimal in-game interface to detract from immersion. For example, players will need to navigate the world using an in-game map and navigation system, weapons will disintegrate over time, and fires will spread and propagate.
Each of the actions a player takes is reflected in the environment and changes the content of the game. To fulfill your mission, you need to play the enemies against each other, using both strategy and skill.
Huge Range of Weapons and Vehicles
Far Cry 2 offers gamers a wide range of weapons, from a machete for hand-to-hand combat, to a sniper rifle that can stealthily pluck off enemies from afar. As weapons disintegrate over time, they might jam or even explode in your hand.
There are also a large range of vehicles such as gliders, trucks, cars, and boats that will let you fly, drive, slide, and hover over the open landscapes.
Multiplayer Options for up to 16 Players
Far Cry 2 supports up to 16 players and has four gameplay modes: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Diamond, and Uprising. Players can choose from six different classes in multiplayer, each with its own set of pros and cons. Just as in the single-player mode, multiplayer games will feature dynamic elements, making each session unique.

- FC2 multiplayer getting better but still needs a patch
I give this game 5 stars because I don't think it's been given a fair review since it was last patched. Yes, they should've never released it early and unpolished but this is becoming part of the business of video games $$$. Crysis was the same way if you remember. If you're like me you will love this game for the multiplayer action (NOT SINGLE PLAYER). I have my own dedicated server and host my own custom maps and others (there are literally millions created with the easy to use map editor).

- Terrible Frame Rate Even On Rad Gaming Rig
I have a 2.8 Dual core Quad 64 bit system, 8 gigs of Ram, Nvidia 9800 GX2 with 1 gig of DDR3, that runs everything smooth as butter on maxed out settings, even the notorious system hog Crysis.
Far Cry 2 ran with a terrible frame rate even with the eye candy turned off, the resolution way down and my video settings turned down a couple of steps from optimal.
An e-mail to Ubsoft tech support got a quick response with a generic cover all the bases answer that showed my query ... Read More

- A very nice game, and I played it completely through...
First of all, I actually DID play through the game. Till the end, did every mission. Second, while I understand why folks here trashed it because of the SecuRom virus protection scheme, we should all take a deep breath and try to focus on the content of the game (yes, I know its hard)
Here is my 2 cents.
1)The game is absolutely beautiful. As photo realistic as COD4.The artwork to me at least is a virtuoso performance from the artwork and production design team.

- What a disappointment
I was so looking forward to this game. The original Far Cry was one of my all time favorite games.
Just to set the context regarding what I like - my ratings for some popular FPS games:
Crysis - 10/10,
Crysis Warhead - 9.5/10,
Call of Duty 4 - 10/10,
Call of Duty 5 - 8/10,
Far Cry 10/10.
Obviously I like great graphics, fast action game play,
varied and somewhat flexible settings, and weapon choice.
I have a dual SLI 8800 GTX, Intel Quad Core, 4 ... Read More

- Bugs Spoil What Could Have Been Great ...
I was really looking forward to this game - and the initial experience was great - you really feel like you are in Africa. In fact there is a TV show about mercenaries called Shadow Force and it looks so much like Far Cry it's uncanny. HOWEVER, there are serious issues with this game for the PC, and some of the issues even affect the Xbox and PS3. The main thing is there is a game ending bug -this affects the consoles as well. You get to a certain point (for many people including me) it's 73% complete ... Read More
