- The best console so far.
I've had the ps3 for 7 months now, and I must say it lives up to Sony's standards.
First of all, the graphics are smooth and pretty close to reality.
I have it hooked to a Sony Bravia 32" (you can get one for $600!!!) and its amazing. I use an HDMI cable.
You turn it on from your couch, just press the PS button on your controller and it launches. You can also turn it off from your controller.

I've bought over $20,000 of Sony products in my life.My PS3 broke down after less than a year of very very light duty use.It wont read DVDs, which is mostly what we use it for.If you look online, you'll find thousands of people with the same complaint. Even though it's clearly defective design and manufacturing, Sony wont honor their brand.They want $150 to look at it.Given the breadth of the problem, a recall is the only legitimate solution.There's rumblings of class action law suits. ... I got my PS3 primarily to be a Blu-ray player since I'm not much into console games, and at the time, the next cheapest Blu-ray player was only about $30 less.
As a Blu-ray player, I can't complain about a single thing.The PS3 is the defining Blu-ray player, with exceptional sound and video, and still one of the fastest load times in the industry.The only weakness is that the controller makes a poor remote -- doubly so since they don't actually publish anywhere what buttons do what. ... Better Graphics(from experience, side by side with a 360 both with COD4)
Can run for days without any problems

Easy to change HDD

Far more advanced CPU, GPU, Physics engine etc...
Cons:
Price (but well worth it in the long run)
