- Do NOT buy this microwave
Well... let's say I was woken up last night at 1:30 AM to the sounds of the microwave operating itself.Earlier in the week, the unit turned itself on and also beeped randomly.The display was showing unusual codes as well.After reading some other online reviews for GE microwaves, some that included fire, I would say that you should NOT buy this microwave and would go on to say to avaoid all GE microwaves.
I would give this zero stars if I could.

This GE counter top microwave has been grossly overrated by every single one of the other reviewers here.I just took the third, and believe me, it will be the last, one back to the store today.I bought the first one a little over a month ago; it lasted one week and simply stopped working.I took its replacement, which the store was kind enough to give me, back the same day.It lasted three days.It constantly blew out my fusses and sounded like a tractor with major mechanical problems as the ... I had a friend who worked for GE as a manager and he told me that in their washers they'd gladly ditch a part that might make it last longer if it cost a nickel.I guess I should have taken that message to heart.
We bought this microwave three months ago.Were a little hasty about it because our Samsung had died and we needed a replacement quickly.Well what an awful mistake to buy this GE.

I have had this microwave for a little over 2 years now and I'm so impressed with it.It cooks everything evenly, it's easy to clean, and at my house it doubles as a bread box.It's such a great microwave that I'm trying to talk a friend into buying it for her new house.I'm sad to see that people have seemed to have issues with it, but I haven't had one problem with it since I took it out of the box.It's one of the better birthday presents I've received!!

This microwave should come with hearing protection, and it gets louder as it gets older. The fixed time for defrosting requires constant monitoring otherwise it cooks the food. This is a boat anchor.
