- A rip-off
This product is a rip-off. Don't waste your money. Although my attempt to set up a new XP system from an old XP system was not successful, I decided to try it when setting up an new Vista computer. I really felt fleeced when I learned that I would have to up for another license in order to do the second set up. This means that if you buy it, you will use it one time. This is unlike any other software that I have ever found. One use !!!!

- Moving to Vista 64 bit? Don't buy PC Mover!
I have tried using PC Mover about 8 times with various configurations to transfer programs from an XP Pro laptop to a Vista 64 bit machine. Each times it kills the WMI in the Vista machine which makes the machine unstable. I have spent 12 hours researching the WMI issue and tried every fix I could find, and whatever it does, appears to be unfixable. The only thing PC Mover does well is to undo the transfer and restore the new machine to pre-transfer state. For me it was a complete waste of money. ... Read More

- Helped pull off a miracle
My wife uses the original Quicken program which is pure DOS.She says it does all she needs and upgrading to Quicken 2008 would entail intermediary moves thru 2 other year versions - lots of work.I had issues getting it from ME to XP and when the screen went out on her laptop and I had to go to Vista I was sure it would be a disaster.PCMover moved it (and every other file) without a hitch.I had read the commentaries before hand and they were either 5 stars or 1 star. The big thing I took away ... - Move PCMover to the Trash Can
I too tried to move from an XP to a Vista machine and it was a complete disaster. The other reviewer had it right: (1) the interface for selecting what to move is convoluted and doesn't give you a top-down view into what your selections look like (first you select settings, then folders and then apps. However, you don't know if you have duplicated what you have selected...for exmample, do I select the Adobe folder when I'm moving folders, or do I wait until I get to applications and then select Adobe ... - Exceeded Expectations!
I bought mine for $23.00 at Walmart.I used the USB cable that came in the box. I was moving from a Dell laptop with Windows XP installed to an Acer Aspire, with Windows XP and some other software already installed.I was worried about duplications, so I deleted some software from the Acer before starting. There's a long list of instructions to follow and the sequence is important. They are presented twice: in the manual, and again on the screen as ysou go through the process. It takes a while ( five ...
