the recorder and upconverting portion of this model work well, however, it did not come with the correct remote for the model dr-410, it came with a remote for the dr-400, which works, but does not allow all the features to be used!Toshiba DR410 1080p Upconverting Tunerless DVD Recorder

Product works great.Mine was purchased refurbished for $[...].As with most dvd recorders you have to format the dvd after recording on it.As long as you do that it will work in all your players.

I,ve had this DVD player for about 8 months and it still works fine.I only bring this up because i purchased other brand ie Sony and LG which only lasted less than a year.Recently when finalizing the disc the unit would lock up on"Finalizing..."and for that i just unplug the unit(since you can't function power,disc tray open any button for that matter)and plug it back in and it would self repair and i'm able to finalize the disc.That's gotta be my favorite feature.I could talk more about the recording/playback ... - Be aware, there is no tuner & your set up will probably require one.
This DVD Recorder requires seperate external tuner for cable via TV, cable via set top box, satellite / dish, etc.For me, I did not understand what that meant, so I wanted to make it more clear for others before you waste $20 on shipping and returning.

In short...bought the dvd recorder, but wasn't happy with it...communicated with seller who informed me of their return policy.
They wanted to charge me a 15% "re-stocking" fee (not reasonable)and of course the shipping cost to return it (which is reasonable)...They also told me i was obligated to return the item within 14 days...I tried contacting them before the 14th day, but i got no response to my e-mail.
