Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Dead after six months and light use
My family was given this player as a gift for Christmas. It hasn't been too much problem of late save that the TV controls did not work on the Blu-Ray/TV remote. (And we have a Samsung HDTV that we love.) Just tonight, it refuses to read any discs. It makes grinding noises then flashes a popup on the loading screen indicating an unreadable disc.

Thank goodness we hardly spent any money on Blu-Ray media.

This is a real shame. I enthusiastically recommend Samsung HDTVs, and ... Read More

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Tired & Tested
Samsung BD-P1500 1080p Blu-Ray Player After purchaseing this player with 1.3 firmware I asked for the 2.0 update disk. The first one wouldn't load so I called & after the 3rd one came it worked. But only for 2 months, then I had frame freezeing. I called & they said I needed the new 2.4 firmware. After 2 disks, as the first wouldn't load, nothing played, not even a regular dvd. I called & they said to send it in as now my warrenty was at its end. When I got it back they had loaded the 2.4 upgrade. ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - HAD NO PROBLEM WITH THE 2.4 FIRMWARE UPDATE
I heard all the negative reviews about the 2.4 firmware update, I had no problems at all. I don't leave any DVD's or Blu-Ray movies in the player when I do firmware updates, that might be why others couldn't get their disks out. It might be wise to take out DVD or Blu-Ray movies before doing firmware updates.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Amazon makes this product better
This Blu-Ray player performs well but it is a replacemnt player for one which failed after limited use in first several months of operation.Amazon replaced unit even though beyond warranty.Cheers to Amazon, less kudos to Samsung.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Good picture but more work
I didn't know blu-ray meant you had something else to update. That is not what i expected. My new player would not play some movies that I tried so I had to call samsung and have a update sent to me (CD) or I guess I could have hooked up to my computer somehow.Wayyy to much trouble if you ask me. Just to watch some movies.I hope i don't have to do that often.
