- Cost effective solution
The Sony VCR/DVD recorder works and has allowed me to gradually reduced the saved shows on my DVR.It takes some practice to produce a decent, ad-free recording, but it is worth the effort.

- Piece of Garbage
In the first 5 minutes, this machine completely failed me. I tried to dub a simple VCR tape to a "Sony" DVD-R, and it just stopped recording and frooze 5 minutes into it. Very disappointed with Sony right now. Why can't anyone make a simple VCR-DVD dubber? I just don't get it. To all those reading this, don't waste your time. I ignored posts like this too, and it bit me.

- Sony RDR COMBO PLAYER
Was pleased with the overall performance of this unit; though, I have not tried recording or dubbing yet. DVD playback on my Bravia was crisp. VHS playback seemed dull even when compared to my problematic Toshiba player. Maybe head cleaning or tracking adjustments are in order. All-in-all a decent value for the cost.

- Mine works
I've read so many reviews from dissatisfied owners that I feel I got lucky.I bought this because I wanted something that played VHS tapes but used an HDMI connection.I have small children and a zillion kid's movies on VHS, but my "kid" TV didn't have enough of the red/white/yellow inputs to accommodate the game consoles and the VCR I wanted to hook up.I didn't even care about the "record from VHS to DVD" function when I bought the unit. When I was hooking it up, my curious wife asked why I ...
