After 2 failures,I decided to follow the directions completely.guess what,it works better that way.
The 3rd try hooked me, It was the best yogurt I have ever eaten. I did add a little Splenda, andfruit just before eating.. So the next batch I added a plain Gelatine, and half cup of powdered milk,1 tablespoon of Vanilla, and A half cup of sugar. no kidding,this thickened to perfection.

Rating: - Easy way to make home made yogurt
I love this product.It takes all the guessing out of making home made yogurt.The results are tasty and healty.
Rating: - Great Yogurt Maker, but watch out for the exploding top!
While this make perfectly wonderful yogurt, you have to watch out for the exploding top of the insert.I'm assuming the pressure from the mild heat this generates to make the yogurt causes the inner container to explode (or pop it's top to be accurate).
One time I heard it go off in the middle of the night, thought someone had shot a gun outside.
So I usually put two heavy books (try Peterson's cookbooks, nice and heavy) on top while it's cooking the yogurt.
Rating: - Convenience size, consistent quality
This yogurt can make one half-gallon of yogurt - this was the main reason I purchased it. I also got yogurt of consistently good quality - firm and tasts good. The temperature is not too high as some previous reviewers stated, at least judged from the good quality it produced.
Rating: - Watch out for the 1-qt boom
We love our yogurt maker.I was too impatient to stick with using organic milk; it added a couple hours to my whole process, to heat it then cool it way down.So I've settled for using the UHT boxes, and they taste just as good, which surprised me.We've comforted ourselves knowing that even if we're not using organic, at least we're not adding any more plastic containers to the pile.Okay, the 1-Qt Boom.The only time I tried making a single quart instead of two, I was sitting out in the living ...
