Rating:
- Useful data visualization tool
This software is quite useful for visualizing business data on a North American map.It has three primary functions that help accomplish this goal.
First, it allows for "territories" to be assigned by region. This makes it possible to highlight areas of interest (for example territory by salesperson) and then visualize those regions on one map.
Second, it is also possible to add sales data to the map by importing a file (.txt .xls etc). This function offers several different ... Read More

- Good But Very Expensive
Works great with SQL and Access databases. Built-in demographic data can be combined with your own company data to produce almost unlimited maps. However, this is quite an expensive product and I'm sure you could find something cheaper that does just as well.

- This product is great for business, overkill for personal use
I've wanted MapPoint for about four years now but had hesitated to purchase because I wasn't sure it was worth the price. After using it for two days now, and going through the tutorials, I realize just how powerful this software is.
For the average home user looking for a routing solution, this is overkill. Just stick with Microsoft Streets & Trips 2009 or Microsoft Streets & Trips 2009 with GPS, or for free, use google maps or mapquest.
This software is integrated with the US ... Read More

- Won't install natively on Mac OSX Leopard or via Crossover
This program will not install on a Mac running OSX (only) or via "Crossover."
It may install just fine on a Mac using Bootcamp or Parallels, and I'll update this review if successful at that. But, since I have not needed to use either of those interfaces on my Mac for more than three years (everything else "just works"), it seems a little burdensome to boot into Windows just to use MapPoint 2009.
Having a native OSX interface would be the best. However, many "Windows only" ... Read More

- Not your mom's map!
First off, Microsoft MapPoint 2009 is NOT a Google Maps wanna be. Yes they can both be used to map out trips. Yes, they can both be used to find nearby businesses. But for me, that is where the similarity ends. Only a few years ago to map out demographic data took months of research and the hand recreation of data onto a map. With MapPoint 2009 a click of a button imports select US Census data and automatically overlays that information on the map. Tie this with the software's ability to define territories ... Read More
