Players need to download the particular course--domestic or international--that they will be playing to their V300 via a PC and detailed course information covering every curve, contour, slope, and sandtrap will be at the placed at the golfer's fingertips.
Other features built into the Sonocaddie V300 include shot distance measuring and tracking, digital scorecard and game analysis functionality, and personalized course editing and mapping. Shot measuring allows players to leave the driving range behind as you accurately measure the length of individual shots, while the tracking system strings each shot in a round together cumulatively for later review. The unit's digital scorecard and game analysis functionality allows players to toss out their paper scorecard and tiny pencils for good as they keep track of their game digitally and perform an analysis based on pre-determined data points at the end of each round. And although the V300 is designed to download every known aspect of the courses of the world, no course's links are static. This is where its editing and mapping functionality comes in. Whether it's the filling of a bunker, the lengthening of a tee or a removal of a tree, with the V300 players can map, edit and save changes noticed on their favorite fairways right on the spot.

I was trying to descide between the Sonocaddie V300 and the Upro GPS. I liked the way the Upro has the "track anywhere" feature but doesn't have the scorecard or the analysis feature like the Sonocaddie. Also, users have complained that the Upro is difficult to see under bright sun. I think this is because with the Upro, you are watching a true video screen and not an animation. All TV screens get washed out in sunlight. This is why I chose the Sonocaddie.

I have now used this for six rounds.Easily inputs new marks - such as a newly remodeled lay up area and the tree I always hit!Very intuitive.Automatically progresses to next hole once I put in my score.Very accurate when I measure it against yardage markers.The analysis is very informative when you use the "pro" scorecard.This one is a winner!

The first two holes on my home course were fantastic - the display was outstanding and the yardages correct. Then - the next 3 holes were reversed and yardages on the rest of the nine suffered from the satelite photo misinterpretation.
I turned it off and after completing my round returned it to Amazon. I spoke with customer service (they were quite available and friendly) who said they would send me materials to request a remapping - 5 days later and nothing has come. From what I had read ... Read More

Fun, easy to use unit.Easy to add or correct location of hazards, etc.Dick's Sporting Goods retail stores reduced prices to $250 about 5/15.I wanted mine in a hurry due to an upcoming trip so I went to Dick's and was surprised with a $100 discount.
Downloads are quick, the screen is highly visible and it holds a charge for 4-5 18 hole rounds.My only beef is that you have to manually change holes each hole to get the right map.It really isn't a big deal, but it seems odd for ... Read More

after almost two months my home courses are not mapped. i call customer service and get same response every time, we can't speak directly to mapping department because they are in taiwan.been golfing for over 1 month so far this year without gps that was given as christmas present. i am ready to explore other options if problem isn't resolved,too bad it looks like this could be a nice unit. very very disgusted and disappointed.
