That's language-learning success.
That's Rosetta Stone.
Think about all of the ways you've tried to learn a language: classes at school, tapes and cassettes, even software that uses your native language as a base for your next one. What do they all have in common? Translation and memorization.

Instead of taking a "direct flight" from your brain to your new language, translation and memorization connects you to your old language. You always have to "fly" from your brain, to your native tongue ... and then translate what you've memorized to communicate.
That might work for a few words, but what happens when you get to a sentence or phrase? When you have to change tenses? You're going to make a lot of "connecting flights." That's why those other methods are so frustrating ... and why they fail.
Enter Dynamic Immersion.
This method encourages you to think like a baby. You'll pair words with vivid, real-life images and make connections between things you know and the new language. Soon, you'll be thinking in a new language, stringing words together into phrases that you create.
Innovative technology.
Rosetta Stone places this Dynamic Immersion method at the core of a suite of software that works with you to develop your skills. The simple, intuitive interface helps to keep you engaged in the solution, while advanced speech recognition technology makes certain that you're speaking correctly and accurately. Best of all, Rosetta Stone never leaves you behind. You'll only move forward when you're ready, when you've become comfortable and confident.

No translation or memorization required.
The most effective way to learn a new language is to be surrounded by it. When you were an infant, your parents taught you this way, by intuitively associating words with images. That's the ultimate language lab, but most language-learning programs completely ignore this.Think about all of the ways you've tried to learn a language: classes at school, tapes and cassettes, even software that uses your native language as a base for your next one. - Immersion is the name of the game
When it comes to learning a language this program proves that immerssion is the best way to learn. My wife and I are now in Russia most of the year and this program helps us keep fresh and keep learning the language when we are in the States. It is the next best thing to being in the country with the native people. We use it one hour a day and love it.We are learning fast.We recommend it.

- WOW--thank you
I've taken 6 years of formal Spanish, 6 years of formal French, 4 years of formal Spanish--in the classroom. I am on Level 1, Unit 3 of Russian. In 3 weeks, I am where I was after 6 months of formal classes. Due to the following reasons: 1) I can plug in anytime I want. 2)Immediate reinforcement on pronunciation. 3) Its fun! I'm planning on getting several more languages. Viki

- Pleased with the Program
I was pleased with the simplicity to use the software. There are a couple of drawbacks.First, it crashes periodically on my older Mac running 10.4 (G4 chip). It also takes longer to install that I would have expected, but it is a large program. And lastly, the peel and stick Cyrillic letters for the keyboard are clear with black lettering. We have black keys on our keyboard. These are useless for our keyboard without requiring the purchase of a new keyboard.

- Great program, but not for beginners
I wholeheartedly agree with others who describe this as a great advanced program for learning Russian.I had already completed Pimsleur Russian levels 1, 2, and 3, and I also had some experience with the Cyrillic alphabet.Without these fundamentals, I seriously don't know how you could get through the first lesson of Rosetta Stone. There is zero explanation of the alphabet, and you can't rely solely on repetitive patterns to associate spelling with sound for the simple reason that Russian words ... - Rosetta Stone is dishonest/not worth money!
First of all, the product is not worth the high price. You memorize a bunch of basically useless phrases like the banana is on top of the book.If you want to improve your language skills/Russian skills, I would suggest buying a Russian book on cd/mp3 and get the same book in a written version. Then read the book out loud with the audio cd's.It is much more enjoyable way to learn a language and you will learn more vocab and improve your accent much better than this expensive program.Another idea ...
