Album Description:
The Legendary Singer/Songwriter returns in 2008 to Verve Forecast the label home of his seminal Mixed Bag originally released in 1967!One of the most distinctive voices in all of popular music, Havens delivers his first new studio recording in over 4 years - with his unique rhythmic approach to the acoustic guitar, Richie takes material by Pete Townshend (the anthemic and timely 'Won't Get Fooled Again'), Peter, Paul & Mary and Jackson Browne and makes them his own.His uncanny gifts as a song stylist have long overshadowed his considerable talents as a songwriter. Seven of the 13 tunes here are written or co-written by him including the poignant opening track 'The Key'. A captivating live performer who tours constantly, Havens profile will be extremely high in 2009 leading up to the 40th anniversary of Woodstock in August `09.

- Stilll going strong
Released in 2008, this is the latest recording from the man who, in 1969,played a huge role in making 'Woodstock', the music event for an entire generation.Since Woodstock, Havens recorded several hit albums and singles and continues to record and perform in concert. Nothing Left To Crown features 7 new songs written or co-written by Havens, the best of them being The Key, followed closely by Fates, One More Day and the title song, Nothing Left To Crown. Also outstanding are Havens' interpretations ... Read More

- One of the Greatest Folk Artists Ever
my favorite cover artist ever...
Saw him back in the mid '60s at the Cafe Wha in Greenwhich Village...
to quote Paul Simon....he always "blew the room away."
First folk artist I ever saw who had absolute mastery over a twelve string guitar...
This CD is part of a magnificent legacy....
Richie Havens is a national treasure in its purest sense...

- Thank You Richie For Giving Us A Voice
So many great artists of the golden age of "classic rock" have continued recording through the nineties and on into the twenty first century. Artists like Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger & Keith Richards, Bob Dylan, Brian Wilson, Pete Towsend and others seemed to have slipped into the great void of irrelevancy. I'm not knocking these artist, for they surely had their day and their claim to genius is undeniable. But when was the last time any of the aforementioned delivered a solid work that put them back on ... Read More

- Good, but a little disappointing
Definitely good to hear some new music from Richie Havens. I've been a fan for many year & have seen him in concert a couple of times. This is not a bad CD, just a little bit slow-paced. Would've been good to hear some uptempo, more rythmic songs.

- Richie Havens is back...
Nobody left to Crown is yet again another classic album with a modern twist. Usually it's very hard for classic artist to come out with new albums that fuse modern sound and technology, as well as their classic sound (ex. The Who's "Endless Wire" and CSNY's "Deja Vue Live" both in my opinion were awful considering the groups that put them together). "Crown" is full of new songs with Havens classic sound. With the covering of the Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again" you get the best of a classic song with a completly ... Read More
