Product Description:
The 2002 album Upojenie, now being released domestically for the first time, may be Pat Metheny's most unique and, for many listeners, least well-known project. The guitarist collaborates with popular Polish singer and keyboardist Anna Maria Jopek backed by a group of Polish musicians.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Exquiste Mosaic Journey
Unlike most Pat Metheney tapestries, Upojenie softly layers with a singular magical voice. Anna Maria Jopek's smokey lilting phrases
equal Pat's exquisite guitar. Upojenie is magnificent.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Mixed Reactions
When a musician wanders from his familiar groove as did Pat Metheny did on an album such as Upojenie, it is bound to provoke a mixed reaction from his fan base such as has occurred here. Since I am only a sometime fan of Metheny's music, I had no real idea what to expect when I bought this on the recommendation of a friend whose musical tastes rather closely parallel mine. So I approached it with open ears and an open mind.
On first listen, my initial reaction was one of ambivalence, meaning ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - not worth purchasing
Well, I have noticed over the past few years Pat has been essentially rehashing his older material. Nevertheless, this album is nothing but boring; and do we need anymore versions of Pat's music?? and why?? I've been very disappointed lately with Pat's output of material. This one isn't any different. I love the originals and these remakes sound like clannad or enya versions....one word fuzak. If you like smooth jazz recordings you will probably enjoy this; for the rest of us this is not worth the ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Worst Metheny ever
I've been a fan of Pat Metheny for over 25 years and this is the worst album he ever played in. I cannot belive he is actually involved in this project. The arrangements are awful, very smooth jazz, very cheesy, with those fake drums...aargh!!! I am not sure what the deal is and why he did this album the way he did it. She has a good voice, but that's it. It could have been done the Pat Metheny way and it may had been a good experiment, but this, sounds like it was arranged by Kenny G.
I LOVE ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - This is not really a Pat Metheny Album!
To call this a Pat Metheny album is to completely miss the point. It is an Ana Marie Jopek album and sounds like one. And from what I have heard, her best. Listening to her other CDs, she has a tendency towards excess. So as lush as these arrangements are, she has actually used a bit of restraint in comparison to her other work.

I find this album anintriguing experiment. To hear some of Pat's work (there are a number of tunes not penned by Pat here,) through a new and novel lens is interesting ... Read More
