Rating: - A true "Canon", the NB-7L L-I Battery
What more can I say?But for the cost, this is a "5-star" product!As others have said in the "pro", this is a beefy, long-lasting, good-to-have back-up for a WONDERFUL camera.As others have said in the "con", it's proprietary, expensive, and, perhaps a bit slow on the charge...BUT!...a 55 gallon drum takes longer to fill than a teacup! :)
I haven't tried the after-markets, but this one works to perfection, and that's pretty rare in the world of rechargable electronics.

The NB-7L has a very long useful life between charges but also has a long charging time.So for peace of mind, I bought a spare.The only issue is the very high price.

This battery works great, but I also bought the 'off brand' battery available here on Amazon.For me, that other battery works EVERY BIT as good as this battery at a FRACTION of the cost...and for the cost of the other one you can't really go wrong at least trying it first.

This battery is just great. I charged up mine when I got my G10 and inserted it into the camera. I'm not a photographer, so I don't shoot a 100 pics / day, but I take pictures frequently, in average about 40 pictures / day since I got it, and it made 435 pictures. Flash usage was not all the time, but still I'd say about 25% of the time.
Since I have two of those babies, I probably never have to worry about running out of juice while outside at all.

Not fond of the fact that my Canon G10 must use this expensive battery, but wow, does it go forever on a single charge.On a recent 10-day vacation, shooting approximately 200 pictures per day, I only had to recharge it once, and that was toward the end of the trip.I also appreciate the plug-in recharger; it's small and simple.If I must be tied to a proprietary battery, I'm glad it's this one.
